Black Resilience Network Publicly Launches at the White House

Next Leadership Development
On Tuesday, February 28, 2023, the Black Resilience Network collaborated with the DHS Center for Faith Based and Neighborhood Partnerships to host The Climate Resilience Roundtable. This is the first time in history that Black organizations have convened with FEMA, other federal agencies, and private sector stakeholders to discuss how we work together to strengthen climate and disaster resilience in Black towns and communities.

Black Resilience Network founding members in attendance spoke eloquently and passionately about the persistent social, infrastructure, economic, environmental, and governance conditions that disproportionately impact Black towns, communities, and organizations. They discussed the strengths in Black towns and communities that have led them to create their own systems to deal with the ongoing fallout from the crisis of anti-Black racism while confronting the impacts of climate change and worsening disasters. Those systems are invisible parts of the climate and disaster ecosystem that are not being funded.
