Mass Black Expo

Oct 18

Greetings,

Do you have your tickets yet? The Mass Black Expo (MBE), hosted by the Black Economic Council of Massachusetts (BECMA), is just 10 days away – happening Friday and Saturday, October 25-26 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.

The Commonwealth’s premier event for showcasing Black businesses, organizations, and allies committed to fostering an equitable economy, this year’s MBE has the theme “Building Black Wealth, Empowering Black Voices” and will feature keynote speakers “Pinky” Cole Hayes, US Senator Ed Markey, State Senator Liz Miranda, Federal Reserve Bank of Boston President & CEO Susan Collins and The Boston Foundation President & CEO Lee Pelton. Register now!

We’re excited to make our final speaker session announcement, the “Equity In Homeownership” discussion. In the face of high interest rates, low supply of affordable housing, and transportation issues, how does one create wealth via homeownership in these economic conditions? We’ll host a conversation with legislators and housing advocates about the state of the housing stock in Massachusetts, and how new policies like the Affordable Homes Act are advancing equity in homeownership in Massachusetts.

This panel will feature Representative Andy X. Vargas, Emilio Dorcely of Urban Edge, and Chrystal Kornegay of MassHousing, with BECMA alum Courtney Brunson of the Greater Boston Partnership to Close the Racial Wealth Gap serving as the panel’s moderator.

The Mass Black Expo (MBE) is a two-day immersive experience featuring special events like our EV Kickstarter, Electric Vehicle Test Drive, and Climate and Sustainability Experience; the Black-Owned Pavilion showcasing the goods and services of Black-owned businesses from across the state.

As we all prepare for Election Day, you won’t want to miss this opportunity to be in community, united with the goal of a more inclusive Massachusetts economy and a more prosperous Commonwealth. Get your tickets now!

We’ll see you there!
